We have many programs in place at Naragebup caring for animals, tending to our gardens and educating our visitors. Here is a little of what we offer. When we are able to create a more complete web site this section will be expanded.
Turtle Rescue & Rehabilitation
Naragebup is one of only three marine turtle rescue centres in Western Australia. Our trained volunteers provide care and treatment for injured or stranded turtles, helping them recover and return safely to the wild. Visitors can see any turtles currently in our care and learn about the conservation efforts that protect them.
If you find a turtle on any South WA beach, do not return it to the water — turtles only come ashore to lay eggs or if they are unwell. Place the turtle in a box, container, or wrap it in a cloth, and contact or take it directly to one of these marine turtle rescue centres:
- Naragebup (08) 9591 3077 (or, after hours, call 0403 599 068)
- AQWA, Hillarys (08) 9447 7500
- Bunbury Dolphin Discovery Centre (08) 9791 3088
Otherwise, call the Wildcare Helpline on (08) 9474 9055 for guidance.
Education Resources
While the volunteers at Naragebup are always happy to answer your questions you may like to work your way around the centre at your own pace, so we have put together a few resources to help you make the most of your visit. We are happy for you to print out the following materials to bring with you on the day. In each case click on a link to download the resource:
